Alternative Energy Systems

We love the idea of building homes that take care of the owners instead of the owners slaving to take care of them. Harnessing the power of the sun, the wind, the temperature of the earth, the inherent warmth of wood heat, and water from rain is something that we delight in. If we had our way, all of our projects would be “off the grid” and hopefully someday they will be. We stay on top of alternative energy technology and are always testing new systems to maximize efficiency and comfort. We were building masonry wood heaters in the 80’s before most people in the U.S. knew what they were.

European masonry heaters embody a cutting edge approach to heating with wood that’s hundreds of years old and they have been keeping northern Europeans warm since the middle ages. The superior combustion efficiency and heat storage ability of these heaters has made them “green” and “alternative” in today’s popular movement to care about our planet.
